The venue is at Mary’s Kafe at Kum Yan Methodist Church (on Queen’s Street).

How to get there? It's at the street next to the Singapore Art Museum (along Bras Basah Road). It's also about 7 mins walk from Bugis MRT or City Hall MRT, and a stone’s throw away from the Bras Basah Circle Line MRT station. If you are driving, places that you can park can be found at:

Should you want to meet and go together, drop me a SMS. I'm sure we can arrange something. ;)

Last but not least, you are strongly encouraged to attend. Adriel and Priscilla are putting up a special item on behalf of our cell. Naturally, I look forward to your earnest participation to show your support, for we are all a single body of Christ. :)

Our love to God is measured by our everyday fellowship with others and the love it displays.

08 Feb 10: News Bulletin

Dear all brothers and sisters in Christ,

Welcome!
During last cell meeting, we have the pleasure of having Jessica Li, Joycelyn Yeo and John Chua in our midst! Praise God and let's give them a warm welcome! :D

There will be cell this week
Although the 2nd week of the month is the week when we have our break, we are going to have cell meeting this week nonetheless. Reason being next week is CNY, and I doubt I'll have the time to prepare for the materials with all the festive rush and visiting.

As Adriel and Priscilla have something to attend on Wednesday, I've decided to therefore shift the day of cell to be on THURSDAY, 11 February instead. We will be covering Convictions Chapter 2, questions 5-9.

Introducing teams
To instill a sense of ownership and to encourage a personal search and longing for God's Word, I'm hereby formalising smaller teams in our cell group. Please read this *important* announcement to find out which team you belong to. Members of each team, please prepare the following questions.

  • Priscilla's Team - 6. Is experience always the best form of education? Please discuss.

  • Stanley's Team - 9. Discuss some areas that Satan casts doubt.

  • Adriel's Team - 7. Many intelligent professional people are bound by the most ridiculous cultic beliefs. How is that possible?

  • Gabriel's Team - 8. What is Satan's usual first step of attack? Why does he faithfully use the same approach?

CNY Visiting
A number of people are keen to open their house for the cell to visit during CNY. As an official record, please SMS me or leave a comment on this post if your house is available for visiting. Also, please indicate your day of interest to do the visiting using the poll on the right of the blog. The poll will end on Friday, 12 February. So yup, if you want to have a say in which day, don't wait! (Just click only what. loL~)

Ordering of "Convictions To Live By"
New comers, if you don't have the above-mentioned book, please let me know via SMS or by leaving a comment on this post. I'll consolidate by this Friday before submitting the order to the church. Please prepare $11 to pay for them too ($10 for the book, $1 for the workbook).

See you all this Thursday! God bless and don't forget the memory verse! ;)

Teams

To instill a sense of ownership and to encourage a personal search and longing for God's Word, I'm hereby formalising smaller teams in our cell group. The roles of each team, at the moment, is very simple. :)

For each week when there is cell gathering, I'll assign different question(s) to each team. During cell, each team will share what they have found out during their week of research, and share with the entire cell group. After the specific team has shared, the entire cell is encouraged to share anything else that have relevance to the question.

Not only does this prepare us well for each cell gathering, it also allow us to engage and use our time more effectively. With fingers crossed, we might actually start ending on time. *loL~*

I'm pretty positive that this change will bring about a deeper walk with God, good for maturing as Christ followers as we learn to reflect on what God has done for us, have more meaningful sharing that encourages one and all, and fostering deeper bonds with each other.

As with teams, there will be team leaders. Responsibility for team leaders is also fairly straightforward. Other than researching for the question(s), all you have to do is to turn up and facilitate discussion within your team prior to sharing with the entire cell. :)

Without further ado, here are the different teams (highlighted names are the team leaders):
  • Priscilla Chua
    Goh Siew Hor
    Hee Yann Lin
    Ruth Tay
    Diana Li

  • Stanley Goh
    Troven Tiangco
    Fiona Zeng
    Adelene Chng
    Jessica Li

  • Adriel Kuek
    Harry Villanueva
    Arianne Boey
    Evin Zheng
    John Chua

  • Gabriel Tee
    Daniel Tan
    Elaine Cheow
    John Lee
    Joycelyn Yeo

God bless one and all and have a victorious week in the Mighty Name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

24 Sep 09: News Bulletin

Hi guys, some important news.

Finish up APQ Book 5
At cell yesterday, we've covered the first 3 questions to the book "If God Is Just, Then Why Doesn't He Punish The Bad People Right Away?" Please finish up the rest of the 3 questions on your own. Should you have any questions about this topic, feel free to share it during our next cell meeting.

Read APQ Book 6
With the above, we'll be doing the next book for our next cell discussion on October 7. It'll be APQ Book 6 "If God Is Merciful, Then Why Did He Create Hell?" As again, please read this prior for a more meaningful discussion. :)

Next week is Fellowship Week!
Please don't forget that next week is our cell's fellowship week, meaning that there'll be no cell on Wednesday. The date will be October 2, so mark it in your calendar if you've yet to do that. I'll arrange with Elaine on what time is best to begin and what time will be good to meet at Yishun MRT.

For those who have yet to confirm your attendance, please send me an sms on whether you are coming or not so that I can update Elaine. Many thanks! :)

Blessings,
Lionel

New Game For Cell!

And so the memory verse game evolves~ :D

This is how it's going to work from henceforth.
  1. Everyone will prepare their own memory verse.
  2. During cell, the person who was asked to share his/her memory verse during the last cell group meeting will ask a random person to share.
  3. This new sharer will share the memory verse of the week, and everyone is encouraged to commit it to memory.
  4. Rinse, lather, and wash from step 1. loL~

The whole objective of this game is that everyone will constantly meditate upon God's Word, knowing that His Word is Truth and Life. In times of despair and darkness, His Word will shine forth!

Psalms 119:105 (KJV)
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

And we're fully confident that His Light will cast out the darkness, for the Word says,

John 1:5 (ESV)
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

We need to constantly labour and build on the foundation on which our Lord Jesus Christ has laid, so that our faith may not be in vain.

1 Corinthians 3:11-13 (ESV)
For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw—each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done.

Let's encourage one another with these beautiful verses that our God has given to us. :)

Philippians 4:8 (KJV)
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Quoting from our last memory verse to end off this post, ;)

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Announcement Widget

It's a bit amazing that I can spend 3 hours just to get this small widget up. But well it's definitely worth it; looks nicer and more integrated than when it once was. :D

If you still have no idea what I'm talking about, do check the top bit, right below our blog header. It's the coloured rectangle with the name "Announcement." Thought it will be a good-to-have so whenever we come to this page, we will know immediately what, when, and where is the next upcoming event.

As such, I've also decided to remove the "Next Cell" widget, which originally resided in the right column. Did not find the need in having two widgets which serve the same purpose. ;)

Thoughts and feedback are most welcome. :)

Let's Bring This Blog Back

It's been a long while since I last posted any articles online through Blogger; was a bit too focused on my job. Well, I think there's a need now to use our blog as a communication platform.

Please take note of the poll widget to the right. Whenever there's events, I'll do up a new poll. Please kindly input your vote so that our welfare officer, Elaine, will be able to better organise the outings.

Let's try to bring this blog back to good use, what say? :D

Happy Chinese New Year!

Dear brothers and sisters!

May our Lord and Father be with us as we celebrate this Chinese New Year!

Be mindful of what you eat k? haha.. Nice nice things are nice but don't eat too much yo? ;)

Please take note that there'll NOT be any cell group this coming Wednesday, 28 January.

As always, refer to the widget to your right. ;)

As a gentle reminder, do remember that during our next cell, we're to prepare and share Question 4 from Chapter 5 | Horrors of Hell | Life & Death.

Have a blessed holiday! :D

"Next Cell" Widget

To disseminate information easier (hopefully *loL~*), I've created the "Next Cell" widget at the top of the side bar. Should be useful. Open for feedbacks. :D

Co-leading Cell

I actually had the intention to write this post since last week, but work, as always, was and is still a hazard. At least I manage to steal some time off tonight to pen down my thoughts; not bad. :D

First of all, initially when Min Shiung and Yiyi mentioned the idea of co-leading the cell, it came as a shock to me. Me being me, I always preferred a lower profile regardless of anything that I do. I am never the kind to stand up and assume responsibilities. Never. *loL~*

As Min Shiung and Yiyi were sharing about why they chose me; the shock sank in, revealing something clearer. I remembered at that time, I was reading the book of Matthew, so while my memory still served, this verse came to me.

Matthew 4:19-20
"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." At once they left their nets and followed him.

When the first disciples were called by Jesus, they did not ask, "Err... why me?" Nor did they say "Let me think about it leh..." Min Shiung and Yiyi were kind enough to give me time to think over it, but I thought it to be a calling from God, and I said "ok". :)

It may seem like a reckless decision; in fact it is! To a certain extent I still feel I'm not up to it. Reason? I'm such a young Christian!

I still remember five years ago, I was a staunch free-thinker who ridicules people speaking in tongues, that they were in fact babbling nonsense. I attended church very unwillingly, and what the pastors spoke gave me drowsy spells instead.

I still remember four years ago, God's Word started to make a _little_ sense to me. There was no revelation whatsoever, and I was still dwelling in sins with an ever willful heart.

I still remember three years ago, God's Word began to take shape in my heart. I got baptised that year, and though still stumbling along the road, I began to walk.

Two years ago, as I finished my National Service, was the fateful time when I joined this cell group. Through bonding and sharing, we grew together in our walk with God and with each other. Praise God!

Just last year, I finally began to serve after months of procrastination and prayers through the church's choir, Praislight.

That's my very short biography, and I hope it dint bore you. :P The other part which amounted to my unpreparedness-cum-initial shock is that I have not read the Bible from cover to cover, not even once yet.

Nonetheless, as I learn my way around in life, in work, in relationships, in the Bible, in co-leading cell, I believe God will always show a way in everything. That's another message that I can share with everyone: God always shows a way; He will not place things in front of us that we cannot handle. We just have to trust Him and always walk with His faith.

Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Finally, I'm very happy to be able to serve everyone in areas more than my usual weekly-long-winded-sharing. *loL~* As I learn to be a better leader for God, I hope that you guys will be patient with me if I do anything wrong.

And since you are reading this now, won't you do this prayer with me? :)

***

Father Lord, thank You for all the wonderful siblings You have placed in our cell group. Through holy meetings and gatherings, we are able to grow and bond strongly together in Your Holy Name.

You set our days right O Lord, and we continue to trust that Your plans are there to prosper us and to teach us how to lean and rely more on you than on our own strength. Indeed Father, that it is only when we are weak, will we find Your mighty arm holding us together, giving us the strength we need, renewing our spirit daily.

Let us not falter in our walk with You Lord. Your Word is the lamp to our feet and the light on our paths. I pray that You will guide our way as a cell to bring Your Good News to the people outside our cell, into Your house O Lord.

Bless this cell group Father, that we may have the wisdom to do what's righteous in Your eyes, keeping Your faith, and seeking only Your qualification and praise. May your plans be revealed and Your will be done in our lives Father.

Glory and praise to Your Name forever and ever. In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen!

A Decision

Dearest brothers and sisters,

Hope this post finds all in great health! :)

As a very recent decision, I decided to stop and start removing "Our Daily Bread" entries from this blog.

The reason is pretty obvious: post rate for "Our Daily Bread" is high, and all our personal sharing of experiences and testimonials gets buried to somewhere which is hard to find.

Our personal sharing entries are what I felt to be of greater importance, since it helps to encourage each other in times of need, and people who stumbles upon our blog finds us growing strongly in faith together. Not an easy decision, but I hope to find support in this decision from you guys. :)

Finally, if you're looking for "Our Daily Bread" postings, you can find it from the official site.

In His love.

For The Next Few Days

Hello peeps! :D

Going to leave in half an hour's time already, so thought of doing a final post here before I leave. Since I won't have the luxury of having a computer to work on for the next few days, I'm linking the bible reading of ODB from my blog (I can set time there, so posted in advance. Over here cannot because of multiple contributors :P).
Cheers my fellow brothers and sisters! Gonna be missing you guys. :)

See you when I see you!

Exam Crisis

For all of those who are about to have or already having their exams/tests/quizzes/experiments/practicals/reports/_________ (insert anything else that I missed), just want to let you know that we are concerned for you! :)

Post your schedule up and/or other requests so we can pray for you that everything to go "soon soon" (smoothly). I'm sure God knows what we are going through, and is willing to hear and bless us all, if only we talk to Him. Right? ;)

Cheers and all the best bros and sis!

No Access To Internet

Two days back when I returned home, it was to my displeasure to find that my internet service is down. Now I have no idea what the problem might be. It could be a case of a spoilt modem, temporary poor service (highly unlikely since it had been a good two days), or could be any other plausible reasons that you might think of.

Bottom line is, I don't know what happened. :S

Furthermore, these days had been really busy for me. Rehearsals for tomorrow's Good Friday performance had been running very often, and in the interim other important stuff found their way to fill up my schedule. After this busy period, I will go and check out what actually went wrong and hopefully be able to update from home again.

Till then guys! :)

I'm Back!

Hi all! I came back from Japan since Friday, but because I've not been feeling well (still down with flu and cough at the moment), that's why the delay till now to update everyone.

Just want to thank you all for praying for my journey. It was actually very fortunate because we missed the typhoon that hit Tokyo by just one day apart. Apart from my health, everything went really great, and so would want to thank God for His blessings. :)

Side track a little, I've added a "Recent Posts" links section at the right column. It acts exactly like "Recent Comments", except that it filters out regular posts, e.g. ODB, prayer items. For those you can still access them through the "Labels" section at the bottom right column.

Was thinking this should be good addition to the blog, to keep what everyone wants to share on top of regular posts. ;)

Really looking forward to seeing everyone! Take care in the mean while guys. Important period now for those taking exams and must take extra care not to fall sick! Let's keep each other in prayer. :)
